Change Agent, Center Admin
Amy L. E. Jones is co-founder of small local business Culture of Safety, where she along with her co-founder and partner teach empowerment-based self-defense to organizations in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. A licensed social worker, 3rd-degree black belt, and nationally certified self-defense instructor, Amy brings her knowledge of martial movement and assertive communication together to help people of all genders feel and be safe, strong, and respected in all areas of their lives. Amy is also currently working on becoming an OWL (Our Whole Lives sexuality education) facilitator through Oak Park OWL. She plans to add this life-enriching training to the trainings that Culture of Safety provides (and bring it to the Rogers Park neighborhood) within the next year or so. In her free time, Amy enjoys reading speculative fiction by people of color, women, and gender minorities (and the occasional cisgender white man), working on puzzles, and binging tv shows on Netflix and Hulu.
