Take Anti-Racism Action Resources

June 2020 marks the Hip Circle 10th anniversary as a feminist dance, fitness, and community space in Evanston/Rogers Park. While this is a significant milestone, we aren’t feeling joyful or celebratory. Our city, state, and nation are in turmoil.

Hip Circle Empowerment Center was created to help women unapologetically accept themselves as strong, beautiful, and worthy of attention no matter their size, color, experience, or socio-economic status. We recognize that our work is still gravely important, especially for BIPOC women.

The board, teachers, and staff of Hip Circle Empowerment Center continue to seek justice and change in the wake of the senseless murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others. There is a plague of racism and violence directed at people of color, who have been systematically oppressed, targeted, and killed. We need to make it stop.
